Keeping Identity Alive...

India presents a fascinating picture of cultural richness. Civilization of India is one of the oldest alive civilizations of the world. Because of its tolerance and capacity of internalizing alien influences, its culture has been able to be one of the oldest, continuous and uninterrupted living cultures of the world. The wonderful process of assimilation and fusion of different cultures has been a continuous process of the Indian civilization. It contributed to the cultural richness of India.

The composite culture of India managed to continue despite numerous castes and communities living here for time immemorial; despite numerous foreign invasions, migrations and assimilation of new groups; and despite cultures of Hindus, Islam and Christians.

But there has never been time where India lost its Identity among other factors...

Then why now?

Please help save our own traditions and culture...

Creating Existence for Vanishing Culture

Can we think of an age old tree with sweet fruits without its roots?
Can we think of our country without its history?
Can we have a strong existence without our heritage or past?
“NO” is a simple answer…
Now the question is – how do we know about our history, heritage, past or culture?
There are thousands of artists across our country who have worked hard for centuries to carry forward many stories from our past. These are the stories of our mythology, stories of our history, and stories of our battles and victories that make us proud Indians today! They have narrated these stories through various art forms like music, dance, drama and folk arts.
They have been toiling hard to keep these stories alive and timeless. But do we have time to listen to their own stories? Listen to their own struggles? Their day to day battles for survival?
So, here comes our Gujarati Feature Film “Bhanvar” that talks about such artist. This is a film about an untold story of a Folk Puppeteer in Modern Gujarat who is tired of performing his dying art of folk puppetry, his instable life, poverty and struggle to continue this art with his family with no support from his community, government or any leader. It’s his journey between the dilemma of passion and survival…
The research says that the folk puppetry in Gujarat has its history of over 500 years. These puppeteers have 9 types of art forms to be great narrators and entertainers.
This film is a sincere effort to save this dying art of Folk Puppetry and the decreasing number of Folk Puppeteers… We have been working for two years to create this Fictional Story of one such Puppeteer, Bhanvar Sinh Dhanawat and take this Film to a National and International Level to help sustain and revive our Culture and support these artists through a strong Audio Visual medium who are struggling to fight their own battles to save this slowly vanishing Folk Art. It’s their battle of existence and we plan to keep certain percentage from the profit of this film to help this community and their folk Puppetry.
